Since beginning to study bellydance in college, and then stepping out to the tutelage of Onca O’Leary, Claire Dima has sought to use bellydance to express the intensity of her nature. Possibly OCD and an obsessive driller, she has focused on developing the strength and drama of the dance. She finds the earthy aspects of much of the folk dance a powerful draw, and has fused them with martial arts in her personal practice. As a former ballerina, she appreciates the supportive and artistically expansive bellydance community for being willing to explore and for being so very inspiring.
